you have been waiting for just 1 year. My wife(primary applicant) got her GC exactly 3 years back while i could not be approved due to pending name check. Then the whole thing retrogressed. Have been renewing AP/EAD since then.I know couple of other people in same boat. I think this is more common than you think

does texas service center still accept phone calls using the old method?...i tried calling today and it said no iio available at 2p.m texas timing....i tried till 4 ...no luck...should i drive all the way to the uscis office?or can i try tomorrow?anybody called today and got response?

As the number of legislative days before the November election slip away, GOP lawmakers in competitive seats are trying to make their legislative mark.
The schedule is even tighter for the many members seeking consideration of their bills on the floor before members leave for the August recess. Boehner himself expressed frustration yesterday about members who have pleaded with him to bring their bills to the floor this week.
�Everybody wants their bill up this week,� the majority leader said during his weekly off-camera press briefing yesterday. �It is as if we were never coming back. There are only so many hours in a day and only a few days in this week to consider all of these.�

In light of recent efforts to find out how each and every one of us can help our cause, I'm starting this thread to find specific things we can do to help.
Place trust in your core team. They are working on things that we can not know about.
But what can we do? Other than just contributing? Each of us needs to take inititive in our own way. If 2 members in NJ can distribute flyers for a few hours - can't EVERYONE active here do something with a similar impact?
* Remain positive and focused.
Focus your efforts on contacting someone in the media, a friend, a fellow green card chaser. For every post that you make on this forum, write and email to send to someone. If you make a negative post about how things are hopeless, you write 2 emails to spread the word.
Pick someone on these lists, and send an email. http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2499 Pappu has another post somewhere with a huge list of media outlet emails. I can't find it right now for the life of me
* Thinking outside the box
Been frustrated by main media coverage of our issues? Want to scream when Lou Dobbs comes on? Have you thought of different mediums that could work in a different way? Distribute those flyers at a local commute stop, write to www.moveon.org, or one of the NPR stations.

Every time someone posts a new article on this board, make the effort to respond to the reporter involved in the article. Even with 200 active members, if ever reporter gets even 100 emails all about the same issue soon after their article is released.
The general public don't know about our problem, we all know that polititcans are notoriously out of touch. Let's leave the sensitive influence to the core team, and we can help tackle the general public. When public opinion is loud enough, I can guarantee that people will start to listen.
You know what blew away the politians in the last presidential election? The power of small, grassroots organizations - using the web to spread the word.
Lets pull together on this.

Thanks a lot for the replies.
I have an infopass appointment for tomorrow. Are the infopass officers qualified to review the file and process it right away?
Nope infopass officers are not at all helpful. I found out that many are just
"half-trained" customer service reps who have access to whatever online
system USCIS uses. They can tell you if your background checks were cleared,
what your priority date is (if you have multiple I-140s) and if every thing
has been bundled together in your "A-file" or not.
I had a horrible infopass where the "officer" didnt even know what a I-140 was.
Try sending a clear letter to the ombudsman right away. Be very clear an give copies
of everything you have I-485 receipts, your PD, country of chargeability etc etc.
I did send a letter to the ombudsman in mid dec got a usual we have opened a
request with USCIS and you will get answer in 45 days 2 weeks ago. Last week
got a phone call - yes a phone call - from them last week saying they got a email from USCIS saying my case is being fowarded for adjudication and you will get a result within 30 days.

Yes, I did the same.....even though I had a valid H1B stamped in my passport the POE made me use the AP to enter.....

. I had the same. you should be getting an Interview at the local office soon(in one or two months time). They want to verify something regarding your case. In my case it was the missing vaccination document
