We got our FP in sept 07. Our attorney has advised that we file earlier to be on the safer side.
I am in the same boat as well. But you answer your question - am almost sure you don't need FP to renew your EAD. Having said that - why would renew your card in June? (Considering that you might not have received your EAD till Aug-Sep'07 of last year).

Just like *ranga*, *billa* also has a story.
billa went to Texas A and M for his Mechanical Engineering and then moved into a lucrative job at a world famous oil company in Houston. His company has offered him a permanant job and offered to do his Green Card. But they don't know he will be leaving his job to go to Dubai because of Green Card logjam and uncertaainity that prevails.

This is a small idea and let us see if it works.
We all help each other on the forum by answering questions. Let us answer questions of members of our community and politely request the person asking the question, if your answer helped him. If it helped him, the member can consider contributing to Immigrationvoice.
I think if all active members add this small note in their signatures, it may help us generate more funds to continue this effort. You can choose to modify this message to make it more appealing or create a link to the high five campaign that is currently running.
Suggestions are welcome.

There is a correlation between election year and immigration. But if that works out, lets say they make the priority date current, it does not matter whether you filled in 2005 or 2007. Now, we are assuming that they will make the date current. You never know, they might bring some weird rule, which take the priority date as a criteria. So what I am saying is, its your call. If I were in your position, I would wait atleast until we get some answers about the new initiatives....

I am planning to switch my job as I am having a great offer, but he kept on telling me that in the past, he has noticed great expedition of green card process during the election years. He advises me against switching the job at this point. My PD is Jan 2005.
Please let me know, if any of you agree with him.

Sick & tired of this VSC processing time frames, I hope they know what they are doing?
Applied for my H1/H4 (8th year) extension on October 22, 2007 and no approval as of today..not sure how long its going to take in order to approve these H1/H4 extension....my last approved H1 will expire in March 1st week of 2008. (still waiting for 140 approval at TSC).. Drama part-2 starts when ever 140 gets approved and applying for another extension .. oh lord!!
Not sure if VSC is trying to meet processing time frames for these visa extension applications with applicants Date of Birth....:D (I am sure that's what they are trying to do with cases filed in EB2 for 140/485)
oh god!! please give us energy & patience to deal with this processing centers!!

I am proud of my 4 year old girl. She has written a letter to the President. When a 4 year old can write , we have 25k adult members and only about 500 of them have sent letters! Why ?

I understand, you are reading this post, but don't have a printer at home to print ? Ok, now open hotmail , gmail or yahoo mail, compose a mail to your work address. Just add this word document, and send a email to your work email address with the word document attached. when you see this email at work, just print 2 copies of the attachment, thats all you have to do.

where we should file a complain to DOL(state ot federal). Every state also has separate DOL e.g. VA has DOLI( department of labor and industry) but federal also has DOL(department of labor) where we should file such complain?

As far as I know:
if your E3 (approved) priority date is current for E2 (approved), you can file 485 (in E2) requesting to use the earliest (E3) priority date. From my understanding, you may be able to do it even when your E2 is pending - but it may be better to wait till you get the E2 approved. Hope it clarifies your question.

I've called them couple of times but they always say that the FP notice has not been mailed but has been ordered (whatever that means).
I'll call them again next week and try to open a SR.
may be they are random again as usual in issuing FP notices as well...they might not be going strictly by the notice dates.

I'm not sure the information is correct. You can add a spouse anytime before your I-485 is approved. Till that time it's a good idea, if you have a chance, to maintain two different applications. The difference is you can mention that you have a spouse in biometrics etc but you wont file for her EAD/ AP since she/he has a separate app since she is not a dependent.
In a nutshell " If-you-are-a-spouse-doesn't-mean-you-are-a-dependent".
If you don't plan to file as a dependent then you have to file two independent apps.
Don't get confused with dependent and spouse, these are two very different terms.
You would add a dependent before your I-485 approval depending upon whose PD is current.
PS: As usual all the disclaimer regarding of me not being an attorney applies. :D

Though USCIS mistakenly has given you H1 approval till May 2011, you will be considered beyond the 6 yr limit and could be held accountable for unlawful presence. End of the day, its your responsibility to make sure you are on the safe side. I have seen a similar case sometime ago where USCIS issued an RFE and the beneficiary had to go through a lot of trouble to get things straightened out. If I were you, I would have your company file an extension considering Apr 2010 as H1 expiry by providing evidence of your first entry to the US on H1 and your current H1 approval notice and asking them for 3 yrs extension based on approved I-140.

I used Compare and Buy Travel Insurance - QuoteWright.com (http://www.quoteright.com) recently for Schengen visa purpose. I have not availed the insurance so I'll not be able to tell you how good it is...it served the visa puspose.
